Project Eden is an action-adventure game developed by Core Design, the creators of the Tomb Raider series, and released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. The game is set in a futuristic city where the population has grown exponentially, leading to the construction of massive skyscrapers. The rich and average citizens live in these skyscrapers, while the poor and criminal elements inhabit the lower, more decrepit areas. Players take control of a team of four Urban Protection Agency (UPA) agents – Carter, Andre, Minoko, and Amber – each with unique abilities. Carter can interview suspects and open high-security doors, Andre repairs broken equipment, Minoko hacks into computer terminals, and Amber, a cyborg, is resistant to hazardous environments. The game focuses on puzzle-solving and cooperation between characters to progress through the story, which involves investigating the disappearance of engineers at the 'Real Meat Factory.' While the combat is weak, the puzzles are complex and require teamwork, making the game stand out for its challenging and cooperative gameplay. Although it received mixed reviews at the time of its release, Project Eden is remembered for its unique blend of puzzle-solving and teamwork, and it holds a historical significance as a product of the early 2000s gaming era. Currently, the game is not highly sought after but remains a nostalgic title for some players and collectors of retro games.
