Tak and the Guardians of Gross is a platform video game developed by Blitz Games and published by THQ, released in 2008 for the Wii and PlayStation 2. The game is the fourth title in the Tak series and follows Tak as he complains about cleaning the Spoiled Shrine. After taking a shortcut through the jungle, Tak accidentally frees four beasts known as the Big Gs, which were imprisoned in a giant gem. To restore the gem, Tak must collect the essences of the Big Gs with the help of the Guardians of Gross, who provide him with various magical powers. The gameplay involves linear platforming with a focus on parkour moves, navigating through the bodies of the Big Gs to reach their heads for boss battles, and participating in mini-games to gain additional powers. The game features rich visuals, great music, and interactive environments, drawing comparisons to games like Shadow of the Colossus and Tomb Raider. While it received mixed or average reviews, with Metacritic scores of 57/100 for the PS2 and 63/100 for the Wii, some critics praised its beautiful design and engaging gameplay mechanics. Despite its mixed reception, the game remains a notable title in the platformer genre, though its current popularity and demand are relatively low, with it being more of a collector's item rather than a widely sought-after game.
