Mortal Kombat XL is a fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Released on March 1, 2016, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and later for Windows on October 4, 2016, it is an upgraded version of Mortal Kombat X. The game takes place 25 years after the events of the previous Mortal Kombat game and features a story mode with a plot-driven narrative, as well as various other modes such as 'Tower' modes, online modes, and the 'Krypt,' a first-person mode where players unlock in-game items. The gameplay involves two players fighting against each other using character-specific attacks, special moves, and the series' trademark Fatalities. Each fighter has three different variations, each with unique moves. The game also includes new finishing moves like Quitality, Faction Kills, and Brutalities.
