Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a first-person action-adventure game released in June 2016 for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. The game is set in the dystopian, futuristic city of Glass, part of the nation of Cascadia, which is governed by a totalitarian corporatocracy. Players control Faith Connors, a Runner who refuses to be connected to the Grid, a massive social surveillance system. Faith must navigate the city using parkour and urban exploration to complete missions, evade or fight enemies, and ultimately help other Runners overthrow the corporate government and stop the sinister project called Reflection.
The gameplay features an open-world environment, allowing players to use multiple paths to reach objectives. Key mechanics include the use of environmental objects like zip-lines and ledges, as well as equipment such as the MAG Rope and Disruptor. The game emphasizes traversal over combat, with a focus on Faith's running and parkour movements, and quick melee-style attacks. Players can engage in various side activities, including time trials, races, and environmental puzzles, and collect items like GridLeaks.
