République is an episodic action-adventure stealth video game developed by Camouflaj and Logan Games, and published by GungHo Online Entertainment. Initially released for iOS devices in 2013, the game has since been expanded to Android, Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation 4 version, which includes all five episodes, was released on March 22, 2016, and an Anniversary Edition was released on March 10, 2022.
Set in a totalitarian state inspired by George Orwell's 1984, players take on the role of an external helper who communicates with the main character, Hope, through their phone or computer. The goal is to help Hope escape from the facility known as Metamorphosis, where she is being held and subjected to mysterious experiments. Players use the 'OMNI View' software to control surveillance cameras, hack into electronic devices, lock and unlock doors, distract guards, and solve puzzles to aid Hope in her escape.
The game features a strong narrative with voice acting from renowned actors such as Rena Strober, Jennifer Hale, David Hayter, and Dwight Schultz. The gameplay involves strategic use of surveillance and hacking to navigate the facility undetected.
