Tearaway Unfolded: Crafted Edition is a platform-adventure game developed by Media Molecule and Tarsier Studios, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Released in 2015 exclusively for the PlayStation 4, the game is an expanded remake of the 2013 PlayStation Vita title Tearaway. The game takes place in a vibrant, storybook-type world made entirely out of paper, where players control either Iota or Atoi, messengers tasked with delivering a letter to a portal in the sky called 'the You'. The world is under threat from Scraps, small villainous creatures invading through the portal, and the player must navigate through environments, solve puzzles, and interact with the world in a god-like fashion using the DualShock 4 controller. Key features include environmental platform interaction, creativity and customizability, such as designing objects and using the controller's touchpad, lightbar, and gyroscope to manipulate the game world. Critics praised the game's controls, visuals, characters, and world design, although some noted that the original Vita version had a more personal experience. Despite positive reviews, the game was a commercial failure. However, it remains notable for its innovative use of the PS4's hardware features and its charming, creative gameplay mechanics.
